Economic relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Indonesia
The Republic of Indonesia, the preeminent economic powerhouse within the Southeast Asian region, assumes a role of paramount importance in the realm of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s economic diplomacy. Thus, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Jakarta shoulders a significant responsibility in fostering and elevating the economic and trade interplay between Iran and Indonesia.
In recent times, the landscape of bilateral relations between these two nations has undergone a transformation marked by a series of bilateral agreements across various commercial domains. Among these notable accords, one finds the Preferential Trade Agreement, the Bilateral Agreement on Customs Cooperation, the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Quality Assurance of Halal Products and the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the fields of Science, Technology and Innovation.
Subsequent to the successful State Visit of the esteemed President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Jakarta on the 23rd and 24th of May 2023, the implementation of the approvals signed during the said Visit has ascended to a position of utmost priority upon the bilateral economic agenda. In consonance with this exigency, two distinguished delegations from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), alongside a delegation from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, have embarked upon visits to Tehran with the overarching aim of nurturing collaborative ties in the realms of science and healthcare.
Yet, another pivotal facet of the Embassy's economic purview revolves around the utilization of the potential inherent within the private sector. This mandate is pursued in harmonious conjunction with governmental collaborations, wherein economic actors are proffered with indispensable consultations and guidance, catalyzing their endeavors in pursuit of economic synergy.
